STAMP ISSUE “SOCIAL WELFARE SERVICES OF MACAO”

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “Social Welfare Services of Macao” on 3^rd July, 2017. The charity and relief service that Government of Macao engaged with can be traced from 1930s, and the Social Relief Division was set up in 1967, which was the predecessor of Social Welfare Bureau. At present, the social service has been further developed, and expanded to various areas.

This issue includes a set of four stamps and one souvenir sheet. The stamps aim to convey the spirit of care and mutual respect, with images dedicated to “Care for women and children”, “Harmonious families”, “Respect and love the elderly” and “Striving for PHAB integration”; the souvenir sheet is illustrated both the non-governmental organizations and the government cooperate with each other, in the spirit of “Working collaboratively and offering help with pleasure”, build a harmonious society with happy livelihood for all the citizens in Macao. The “Blue House” illustrates on the stamps and souvenir sheet has already become the symbol of social welfare for residents in Macao, this historical building that is assessed to be holding artistic interest witnesses the changes and advancement of the charity and social services in Macao over the last decades.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office and the Communications Museum, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Ng Wai Kin, and the text of the information brochure is written by the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.

This is the fifth theme in 2017. The previous issued stamps are “Lunar Year of the Rooster” on 05/01/2017, “Macao: Back to Common Roots” on 10/02/2017, “Traditional Chinese Culture” on 01/03/2017, the label stamp “Lunar Year of the Rooster” on 17/05/2017, and “Chinese Opera – Farewell My Concubine” on 08/06/2017.
