The inaugural edition of the Macao International Marathon was held in 1981, and this year marks the 40^th edition of the event. To celebrate this special event, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “40^th Macao International Marathon” on 3^rd December, 2021.

The 40^th Macao International Marathon will be held on 5^th December this year, comprising three races: the Marathon, the Half Marathon, and the Mini Marathon. Along the route of the race courses, there are buildings distinctive of Macao’s characteristics, world heritage sites and sea-crossing bridges.

The Macao International Marathon has gained increasing popularity and attracts athletes every year from local and neighboring regions, as well as overseas athletes including internationally acclaimed long-distance elite runners. By incorporating the elements of sports, tourism and culture, the event highlights Macao’s image as a sports city and a world centre of tourism and leisure, which consequently promotes the development of sports tourism.

This issue includes a set of two stamps and one souvenir sheet, the two stamps respectively capture the important moments of the runners’ starting and crossing the line, and the theme banner and the track on the souvenir sheet are showing the dynamic beauty of Marathon with calligraphic brush strokes.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.), and the “Rua do Campo” Post Office (9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m.). The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The philatelic products are as follows:

The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Stephen Chung Kui Sing, and the text of the information brochure is written by the Sports Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region Government.
