To celebrate the 150^th anniversary of the Conde de São Januário General Hospital, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “150^th Anniversary of Conde de São Januário General Hospital” on 6^th January, 2024, serving as a means for the public to gain insight of its evolution and development. This is of the same theme after the issue “140^th Anniversary of Conde de São Januário General Hospital” in 2014.

Founded in 1874 as a Portuguese military hospital in Macao, the Hospital was rebuilt several times and gradually expanded its range of medical services to Macao residents. Since the 1980s, the Hospital has gradually developed into an essential pillar of Macao’s specialist medical services. Since the establishment of the Hospital, the medical and nursing staff have been continuously pursuing excellence of their professionalism and skillsets through various trainings and international academic exchanges, hence promoting the development of the medical and healthcare industry in Macao.

This issue includes a set of four stamps and one souvenir sheet. The themes of the stamps are “Medical Professionalism”, “Smart Healthcare”, “Attention and Caring” and “Healthcare Team”. The souvenir sheet highlights the building of Conde de São Januário General Hospital, and illustrates the professional healthcare team and the bird’s-eye view of the Hospital.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), and the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.). The mail service for the philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark of this issue will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Fong Pak Kin, and the text of the information brochure is written by the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government – Conde de São Januário General Hospital.

This is the second theme of 2024 issues. The first theme “Lunar Year of the Dragon” will be issued on 05/01/2024.
