STAMP ISSUE “150^th ANNIVERSARY OF GUIA LIGHTHOUSE”

The Guia Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses on the coast of China, it has been 150 years since the Lighthouse was built in 1864 and began operating for the first time on 24^th September of the following year, witnessing silently the hundred-year change of Macao up on the hill. In 1992, the Lighthouse was selected as one of the “Eight Attractions of Macao” and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Historic Centre of Macao in 2005. To celebrate its anniversary, Macao Post will issue the stamp theme “150^th Anniversary of Guia Lighthouse” on 8^th July, 2015. This issue includes a set of two stamps and one souvenir sheet, the images capture the Guia Lighthouse from different angles, situated on the top of the Guia Hill, the highest point on the Macao peninsula, on the Guia Fortress as well as beside the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia.

The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Wong Ho Sang, and the text of the information brochure is written by the Marine and Water Bureau.
