ISSUE OF DEFINITIVE STAMPS “OLD STREETS AND ALLEYS”

M acao Post will launch the third issue of definitive stamps after the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, on 22^nd September, 2015, with the stamp theme “Old Streets and Alleys”. The streets of Macao reflect the glory of Macao as the hub where Chinese and western cultures meet. The nuances and details of each street have become richer with the passing of time. In spite of the constantly changing landscape, many valuable historical traces still remain which evoke the memories of the public.

This issue includes a set of eight definitive stamps, the sites of Sé Street (Rua da Sé), Ervanários Street (Rua dos Ervanários), Happiness Street (Rua da Felicidade), Figueira Street (Rua da Figueira), Eduardo Marques Street (Rua de Eduardo Marques), Embaixador Lane (Calçada do Embaixador), Erva Street (Rua da Erva) and Verdades Lane (Calçada das Verdades) are selected as the stamp images. The aforementioned streets and alleys have their own unique stories and nuances of historical development, which all reflect their own part of the development of the city of Macao, as well as the changes in society and people’s livelihoods. The Portuguese name of the streets is especially printed with microprinting techniques on the stamps.

The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Mr. Lei Tak Seng, and the text of the information brochure is written by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau.
