STAMP ISSUE “LUNAR YEAR OF THE RAT”
Macao Post will issue the first issue of the third series of Chinese Zodiac philatelic products, the stamp issue
“Lunar Year of the Rat” on 23rd January, 2008. The third series is presented with the concept of “Five Elements”, included “Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth”, and adopted the “Heavenly Stems” calculation method to figure out the nature of the “Five Elements”. This year, the rat’s nature from the “Five Elements” is “Earth Rat”, so it becomes the main character of the five stamps. The “Earth Rat” stamp is applied with emboss printing technique to highlight the teapot image of Lunar animal while the stamp border and the characters of “Macao, China” are printed with hot foil stamping with holographic. In addition, the hot foil stamping with gold and holographic are used respectively on the face values of “Earth Rat” stamp and souvenir sheet. The sparkling “Earth Rat” stamp enhances the festive spirit of Lunar New Year.
The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m, and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The registered mail service for the above philatelic products will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer for this issue is
Mr. Wilson Chi Ian Lam, and the text for the information brochure is written by
Mr. Lawrence Lei. This is the first issue in 2008, and also the first issue of the third series of Chinese Zodiac philatelic products. The first series of Chinese Zodiac stamp was issued from the year of 1984 to 1995; the second series was issued from the year of 1996 to 2007.

Macao Post will issue the
Annual Album 2007 on
23rd January 2008, it will be available for sale at the Philatelic Shop of Macao Post Headquarters, “Rua do Campo” Post Office, Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office, Airport Post Office, and the Communications Museum. An elegant and protective hard cover is designed together with the adorable piggy image combined with embossed characters. The album contains the full collection of 2007 stamps, souvenir sheets and the first issue of Macao self-adhesive stamp booklet, on which the colour stamp image and the technical data are printed on the pages. This Album is priced at
MOP280.00, it is certainly a precious collectable as well as an elegant gift.
Customers can also purchase the empty Annual Album, by which the purchased 2008 Macao’s stamps and souvenir sheets can be protectively organized. Empty Annual Album is priced at MOP80.00.
