STAMP ISSUE “SENG YU – IDIOMS III”

The idioms and the histories that originated idioms are precious cultural heritages of China. Macao Post issued two series of stamps “Seng Yu – Idioms” on 2001 and 2007, which became name cards spreading Chinese culture. The third series will be issued on 1st June, 2009, the Chinese idiomatic stories depict on the four stamps are “The Mantis Stalking the Cicada”, “A Fond Dream of Nanke”, “Songs of Chu on All Sides” and “Give the Last Measure of Devotion”, whereas the souvenir sheet depicts the story of “Marking the Boat to Find the Sword”. 

It also includes the Self-adhesive Stamp with the same theme, which will be released in the Booklet with a total of 8 stamps. Due to the limited quantity, the sales restriction per queuing customer on the issue date is three booklets. The First Day Cover, Information Brochure and Postcard (all without stamps) will be available for sale on the issue date, customers can produce the philatelic products by affixing the self-adhesive stamps with the issue postmark for your collection or mail to your beloved friends and relatives.

The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m, and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The registered mail service for the above philatelic products will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer for this issue is Mr. Lio Man Cheong, and the text for the information brochure is written by Mr. Yin Degang.

This is the seventh issue in 2009. The issued stamps are as “Bicentenary of the Birth of Louis Braille” on 04/01/2009; “Lunar Year of the Ox” on 08/01/2009; “Opening of Kun Iam Treasury” on 20/02/2009; “Traditional Instruments II” on 01/03/2009; “Mainland Scenery III” on 08/04/2009 and “120th Anniversary of the International Labour Day” on 01/05/2009.

To cope with the World Heart Day, Macao Post announced that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at Tap Seac Plaza, at 15H00 to 18H00 on 27th September 2009 providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Heart Day”.

Macao Heart Foundation will sell the commemorative envelope, priced at 10.00 patacas at the mentioned location. The revenue will be for the charity purpose.

Commemorative Envelope of “PHILAKOREA 2009 24th Asian International Stamp Exhibition”

Macao Post will participate the “PHILAKOREA 2009 24th Asian International Stamp Exhibition”, located at Seoul, Korea, during 30th July to 4th August 2009. To commemorate this Exhibition, Macao Post produces the commemorative envelopes and provides the commemorative postmark cancellation service on site of the exhibition.

Be convenience to the philatelist, the commemorative envelope with stamp priced at MOP3.50 will also be available for sale at the Philately Shop of Macao Post Headquarters starting from 30th July.

POSTCARD “BLESSED LAND OF LOTUS”

Macao Post will issue a set of five postcards titled “Blessed Land of Lotus” on 10th June 2009, it will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, all post offices and postal kiosk “Ruins of St. Paul’s”. The illustrations of the postcards are came from the oil painting of Lotus by Macao painter Sou Farong, his masterworks depict the lotus flowers with blossoms or budding, with the theme of “Pure Lotus”, “Golden Lotus”, “Happy Lotus”, “Blessed Lotus” and “Dreamy Lotus”.



A full set of five postcards are packed in an exquisite cover, the selling price is MOP28.00. Through this set of postcards, messages can be sent to every corner of the world together with promoting the city flower that symbolic of the Macao SAR to the foreigners.




POSTCARDS DESIGN CONTEST



Aims
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Reunification of Macao with Motherland, Macao Post organizes a Postcards Design Contest with the theme of "10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region", the aim is to encourage the Macao residents to celebrate this great event through the healthy philatelic activity. The winning entries may be selected as designs of postcards to be issued by Macao Post, this provides an opportunity for the residents to share the joy of the MSAR’s developments and achievements by mailing the postcards to the relatives around the world.

Theme
10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region

Eligibility
1. All MSAR residents are eligible for participation.
2. The contest is divided into two categories:
Open Category: aged 18 or above (Birth on 31/07/1991 or before)
Youth Category: aged 12 to 17 (Birth between 01/08/1991 to 31/07/1997)

Before 5:30pm on 31 July 2009
