STAMP ISSUE “LEGENDS AND MYTHS IX – THE LEGEND OF THE WHITE SNAKE”

The Legend of the White Snake is one of the four popular folk legends of China, it was inscribed in the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritages List in 2006. Macao Post will issue this stamp theme “Legends and Myths IX – The Legend of the White Snake” on 28th July, 2011. This issue includes a set of six stamps and one souvenir sheet, the stamp theme was selected from the classic plots from the novel. Among these are “Meet when Traveling the Lake”, “Revelation during Duanyang Festival (Dragon Boat)”, “Steal Herb and Save the Husband”, “Fight between the Dragon and the Snake”, “Captive Lady Bai in Pagoda” and “Dutiful Son Worshiped the Pagoda”. The souvenir sheet portrays the grand sight of “Flooding of the Jinshan Temple”, in which Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing together with the great army of underwater brought forth a flood over the Jinshan Temple to fight with monk Fa Hai.

The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The registered mail service for the above philatelic products will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp designer of this issue is Ms. Poon Kam Ling, and the text of the information brochure is written by Mr. Yin Degang.

This is the fifth issue in 2011. The previous issued stamps are “Lunar Year of the Rabbit” on 05/01/2011, “Mainland Scenery IV” on 01/03/201, “Public Buildings and Monuments” on 19/04/2011 and “Cantonese Naamyam” on 30/05/2011.

Commemorative Postmark Cancellation Service of “Legislative Assembly Building Open Day”

To celebrate the Legislative Assembly Building Open Day, Macao Post announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at the Square of Legislative Assembly Building at 10:00 to 18:00 on 23rd July 2011, providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Legislative Assembly Building Open Day”.

A commemorative envelope with stamp priced at MOP4.00 will be issued, and various philatelic products will also be available for sale during the above activity.

The Awarded Stamp Issue “Seng Yu – Idioms III”

The stamp issue “Seng Yu – Idioms III” issued by Macao Post on 1st June, 2009, with the unique design of the souvenir sheet, ranked the 8th place of the “Grand Prix de I’ Exposition WIPA” for the “Most Beautiful Stamp” award for year 2009, at Vienna International Philatelic Exhibition on 23rd February, 2011.

After the great honor at St. Gabriel International Award in Italy for the stamps and souvenir sheet of the issue “Society of Jesus” issued in the year 2006, this is another outstanding work in the international philatelic award. Macao stamps with outstanding designs and topics have once again been given an affirmation and proven its international status.



“Seng Yu – Idioms III” is designed by a Macao famous artist Mr. Lio Man Cheong, and the souvenir sheet depicts the idiom “Marking the Boat to Find the Sword”, criticizing those who could not make flexibility when the time and environment have changed but only stick in the mind.

Since 1991, Mr. Lio Man Cheong has been awarded the great honor in “Gods of Chinese Mythology” and “Temples of Macao” in Macao Post stamp design’s competitions, he has already designed more than 30 Macao stamp issues, which are always of high appreciation throughout the years.


Postcards “Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers”

Macao Post will release a set of postcards “Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers” on 28 July 2011. The theme came from The 16th International Design Stamp Contest, organized by Korea Post in 2010 and the illustrations are selected from Macao’s competing works.



The issuance of this set of postcards aims to continue the message “To Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers” and to promote the local design as well. A full set of 4 postcards are packed in an exquisite cover, the selling price is MOP28.00. It will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, all post offices and postal kiosk “Ruins of St. Paul’s”.


Commemorative Postmark Cancellation Service of “Two Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Police Stamp Collection Exhibition”

To celebrate the “Two Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Police Stamp Collection Exhibition”, Macao Post announced that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at the Macau Business Tourism Centre, Senado Square, from 10:00 to 17:00 on 15th August 2011 to provide the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Two Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Police Stamp Collection Exhibition”.

A commemorative envelope will be distributed to public, and various philatelic products will also be available for sale during the above activity.

To celebrate the Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix – Finals, Macao Post announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at the Macau East Asian Games Dome between 12 a.m. and 6 p.m. on August 28th, 2011, providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Macau Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix – Finals”.

Macao Post will issue a set of postcards on 11 June 2011 titled “Praise of Lotus”. Once again release with the popular series of lotus postcard after the “Blessed Land of Lotus” which issued on 2009. The illustrations of the postcards are came from the Macao painter Sou Farong, with the theme "Double Happiness Lotus", "Cheerful Lotus", "Unforgettable Lotus" and "Golden Lotus", applying special techniques for highlight the purity, perfection and virtue of the lotus. A full set of 4 postcards are packed in an exquisite cover, the selling price is MOP28.00. It will be available for sale at the Philatelic Shop of Macao Post Headquarters.
