STAMP ISSUE OF LABEL STAMP "LUNAR YEAR OF THE PIG"

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau issued the label stamps “Lunar Year of the Snake”, “Lunar Year of the Horse”, “Lunar Year of the Goat”, “Lunar Year of the Monkey”, “Lunar Year of the Rooster” and “Lunar Year of the Dog” under the stamp series of Chinese Zodiac between 2013 and 2018. The seventh issue with the stamp theme “Lunar Year of the Pig” will be issued on 10^th January, 2019, the printing quantity is 1,000,000 label stamps.

The pig, being the principal of the six domestic animals (horse, ox, goat, rooster, dog and pig), is also among the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac and protects people from all evils. In Chinese culture, the pig is also seen as an example of gluttony and laziness. The character Zhu Bajie (half pig and half human), a man-pig-deity trinity, is widely known thanks to his very dynamic and popular personality.

In the West, although the symbolic meaning of the pig is similar, there are places that view it differently from the East. For example, in the past, in Germany, the pig was represented by a flute, meaning lust, and it was considered that dreaming of a pig was related to sex. In the folklore of Scotland, pigs were used to pull carts, and there are countries that use pigs to find pinecones, blow mines or even detect drugs.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office and the Communications Museum, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office, from 11:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. On the issue date, the maximum sales quota per queuing customer is 20 sets of label stamps, 5 first day covers with label stamps and 5 information brochures with label stamps.

Arrangement of automatic stamp vending machines
The following designated automatic stamp vending machines will have a temporary arrangement; the maximum time limit for using the vending machine is 10 minutes for each queuing customer.

This is the first theme in 2019. The theme “Lunar Year of the Pig” also included the commemorative stamp to be issued on 05/01/2019.
