STAMP ISSUE “LUSOPHONE WRITERS”

Response to the International Association of Portuguese-Speaking Communications (AICEP), nine postal administrations of the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories are jointly issued a common stamp theme “Lusophone Writers”. Macau Post will issue this stamp theme on 9th October, 2012; it is the date of the “World Post Day”. The participating postal administrations and territories are: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, East Timor, and Macau. The inspiration of this stamp theme is come from the theme of “21st Luso-Brazilian Philatelic Exhibition” (LUBRAPEX 2012), to be held at the city of Sao Paulo in Brazil from 10 to 18 November, 2012. The design concept is chosen a representative figure of Lusophone culture of each country or territory as the image of the stamps. Henrique de Senna Fernandes, a famous Macanese writer and lawyer as the character of stamp, whose literature witnessed the culture and local way of life between 30 and 50 decades of the twentieth century.

The above issue will be available for sale at the Macao Post Headquarters, from 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m., the “Rua do Campo” Post Office, from 9:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., the Maritime Ferry Terminal Post Office and the Airport Post Office, from 10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m., and the Communications Museum, from 9:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. The mail service for the relative philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark will be available on the issue date at the above locations. The stamp of this issue is designed by Folk Design, Portugal, while the first day cover and the commemorative postmark is designed by Mr. António Conceição Júnior. The text of the information brochure is written by Macao Post.

PRESTIGE PHILATELIC COLLECTION “LITERATURE AND ITS CHARACTERS – A JOURNEY TO THE WEST”

Macao Post has released the theme “A Journey to the West” among the stamp series of “Literature and its Characters”, the stamp themes were selected from the classic plots from the novel. The stamp images were designed by the painter Poon Kam Ling, this series consists of two stamp issues, issued on 30th September 2000 and 18th June 2007 respectively. The two stamp issues are now compiled as a philatelic collection, the images of Chinese folk art papercuts designed by the cartoonist Chan Wai Fai is presented in this collection, the characters are lively and cartoon like, the composition is simple but with prominent theme and bright colours.



The Prestige Philatelic Collection “Literature and its Characters – A Journey to the West” is presented in an exquisite protective hard cover, the image of papercuts “The Master and Disciples Searching for the Scriptures on the Journey to the West” is applied with the hot foil stamping with holographic silver, the Chinese title “Literature and its Characters” was written in artistic Chinese calligraphy by Mr. Lam Kan, which applied with hot foil stamping with black, highlighting the elegant Chinese calligraphy. The inner pages of the papercutting images are illustrated with explanatory drawings and presenting the complete story of the classic novel, the images are: “Monkey King in the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits”, “Monkey King Chaos at the Heavenly Palace”, “The Three Fights with the Bai Gu Jing (White-Bone-Demon)” and “The Master and Disciples Searching for the Scriptures on the Journey to the West”. The philatelic collection also included a papercutting bookmark with the image of Monkey King holding his gold-banded cudgel.

This philatelic collection will be available for sale at the Philatelic Shop of Macao Post Headquarters, starting from 9th October, 2012. This collection is priced at MOP180.00, and it is an excellent product to the stamp collectors and art lovers.


Commemorative Postmark Cancellation Service of “World Post Day – UPU”

Respond to the Universal Postal Union for the celebration of the World Post Day, the Postal Administration achieves various activities relative to this event.

         

Macao Post announced that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop located at Macao Post Headquarters and the Communications Museum on 9th October 2012 providing the commemorative cancellation service for the “World Post Day – UPU”.

Opening hours as following:

A commemorative envelope will be distributed to public, and various philatelic products will also be available for sale during the above activity.
