After more than a century of development, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT Macao) celebrates its 140^th anniversary this year, and the stamp theme “140^th Anniversary of Macao Post and Telecommunications” will be issued on 1^st March, 2024. With the issuance of the stamps, we wish CTT Macao continued success while moving towards the next brilliant milestone with a positive and enterprising spirit.

CTT Macao was established on the 1^st of March, 1884 and the first Macao stamp “Crown” was issued on the same date, hence opening a new page in the postal history of Macao. Since its establishment, CTT Macao has not only provided traditional postal services to the public, but also continuously evolved and expanded its functions along with the development and changes of the times, in order to better serve the society. Today, in addition to the areas of postal services, telecommunications regulation, postal savings services, e-signature and electronic certification services, and the Communications Museum which is responsible for promoting science and philatelic culture to the public, we continue to work tirelessly to develop Macao stamps. With meticulous selection, unique design style and high-quality printing, Macao stamps have won numerous awards and received international recognition.

This issue includes a set of eight stamps and one souvenir sheet. The eight stamps, which includes four self-adhesive stamps, are sold in the form of self-adhesive stamp booklet and prestige stamp booklet. The unique shape of the stamp originates from the clock tower on the top floor of CTT Macao’s building. Each stamp represents each of the four major service areas of CTT Macao, including Postal Services, Telecommunications, Postal Savings and the Communications Museum. In the prestige stamp booklet, the logos in the center of the stamps are applied with special printing effects, including embossing, illusions holographic foil, hot stamping with silver foil and blue foil respectively. All these add to the unique charm of the stamps.

The main image of the souvenir sheet is the CTT Macao headquarters’ building, which is a building of architectural interest. The oval stamp includes silver hot foil stamping, with gold lettering embedded in it, and 3D embossing to bring out the vividness of the building. It is like a shiny commemorative silver coin, making it a more valuable collectible.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.), and the “Rua do Campo” Post Office (9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.). The mail service for the philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark of this issue will be available on the issue date at the above locations.
