Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue the stamp theme “40^th Anniversary of Television Broadcast in Macao” on 13^th May, 2024. On May 13, 1984, TDM TV channel officially commenced its broadcasting, airing self-produced news, programs, and large-scale outdoor shows in both Chinese and Portuguese languages on the same channel and in different time slots. Since then, many classic productions have been created, accompanying the local population through years. Over the past 40 years, TDM has established an inseparable connection with various sectors of the society.

Deeply rooted in Macao, TDM strives to serve the local audience. In 2023, with the extension of coverage of TDM TV channel to the Pearl River Delta that has a population of 100 million, and the continuous development of integrated media, TDM enables a wide range of audience, both in the Pearl River Delta and overseas, to watch Macao news, programs, and events in their entirety. This greatly expands the geographical reach of Macao’s information dissemination. In 2024, TDM’s Hengqin Newsroom officially commences it operations, further promoting the circulation of information between Hengqin and Macao, and providing support for the integration of the two regions.

The souvenir sheet of this issue depicts a satellite antenna standing on the coastline of the Macao Peninsula. The stamp in the souvenir sheet includes an emblem commemorating the 40th anniversary of television broadcast, with a waving red ribbon that intertwines with the number “40”, symbolizing 40 years of television broadcasting service to the population of Macao.

The above issue will be available for sale at the General Post Office (9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.), the Communications Museum (9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., 2:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.), and the “Rua do Campo” Post Office (9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.). The mail service for the philatelic products cancelled with the commemorative postmark of this issue will be available on the issue date at the above locations.
